Beckett card grading, authentication event coming to Bases Loaded

Beckett card grading, authentication event coming to Bases Loaded

Bases Loaded Sports Collectibles will host representatives from Beckett Grading Services and Beckett Authentication Services in June, at a time and date to be announced shortly. The store is located at 794 French Road, Cheektowaga.

Beckett Grading Services provides collectors with the most thorough, consistent and accurate grading efforts available in the industry. Your BGS-graded cards will be returned in a unique, protective cardholder. Beckett uses an easy-to-understand one- to 10-point grading scale to rate sports cards, which are graded on four key categories: Centering, corners, edges and surface. Grades from each of these key categories will be considered in determining your card’s final overall grade. Beckett also grades non-sports cards, magazines, pocket schedules and gaming cards.

Beckett Authentication Services was established in November 2016 to provide an autograph authentication service that will be the most trusted and respected in the industry. Led by the top autograph authenticators in the world, Brian Sobrero and Steve Grad bring their years of autograph experience together to form the newest division of the Beckett company. Authenticating will be conducted on-site during the Bases Loaded event.

Additionally, for every 10 items submitted for grading or authentication, customers will be entered into a contest to win autographed prizes!

Buffalo Bisons announce 2018 promotional schedule

Buffalo Bisons announce 2018 promotional schedule

The Buffalo Bisons’ 2018 Promotional Schedule is once again filled to the brim with special events, giveaways, theme nights and fireworks!

With nearly half (33) of the Bisons’ 70 scheduled home games on either a Friday, Saturday or Sunday, the ballpark will once again be the top destination for weekend fun. The fridaynightbash! series returns with each game featuring the Resurgence Brewing Happy Hour and postgame fireworks! Saturdays feature an all new 6:05 p.m. start time beginning in June and will be the day Bisons fans find their favorite themed night, such as Star Wars Night (June 2) presented by Alfred State College, Superhero Night (Aug. 11), Dino Day (July 21), Seinfeld Night with special guest appearance by Steve Hytner, aka Kenny Bania (June 23), and Strike Out Cancer Night (July 7).

Bisons fans can also look forward to the return of some fan favorite traditions, such as the 24th annual KeyBank Independence Eve Celebration with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus (July 3), Mystery Ball Night (Aug. 22) and Fan Appreciation Night (Aug. 27).

The popular Dog Day has been expanded into the all-new Dog Day Series, with one game every month of the season open for our favorite four-legged fans: April 28, May 20, June 14, July 17 and Aug. 21. The Dog Day on Sunday, May 20 will even feature a Dog Bowl Giveaway to the first 2,000 fans in attendance.

Other giveaways on the schedule include Magnetic Schedules on Opening Day (April 12), Logo Baseballs on Father’s Day (June 17), Fidget Spinners (June 27) and Giant Wall Stickers (Aug. 1). All giveaways are to the first 2,000 fans through the Inspire Dental Gate at Swan Street.

No Bisons promotional schedule would be complete without the Heritage Festival Nights with pre-game tent party and post-game fireworks on Irish Night (June 26), Italian Night (July 19) and Polish Night (Aug. 7). In all, the Bisons have 18 Fireworks Nights in 2018, or over 25 percent of their 70-game schedule.

Panini America inks Saquon Barkley to exclusive agreement for trading cards, memorabilia

Panini America inks Saquon Barkley to exclusive agreement for trading cards, memorabilia

Panini America, the world’s largest licensed sports and entertainment collectibles company, announced that it has reached an exclusive agreement with former Penn State University running back Saquon Barkley for trading cards and memorabilia. The exclusive partnership, facilitated through negotiations with Roc Nation Sports, makes Barkley the fourth NFL player to become an exclusive member of Panini Authentic, the memorabilia division of Panini America, joining Andrew Luck, Dez Bryant and Leonard Fournette.

Barkley’s first licensed trading cards – honoring his spectacular performance at the NFL Scouting Combine – sold out within hours of releasing on the Panini Instant on-demand platform earlier this month. Barkley will be featured prominently throughout Panini America’s 2018 NFL product line and his autographed memorabilia will be available exclusively through Panini Authentic.

“Saquon Barkley is a franchise-type talent that promises to be one of the first players selected in the upcoming 2018 NFL Draft. We’re thrilled to partner with him in such a meaningful way as he begins his NFL career,” said Mark Warsop, Panini America CEO. “Fans and collectors almost instantly devoured his first Panini America trading cards on the Panini Instant platform. That demand is certain to increase throughout his rookie season. Barkley will absolutely be a key driver for our NFL business in 2018.”

“Saquon is a special talent with unprecedented abilities on and off the football field,” said Michael Yormark, President & Chief of Branding and Strategy at Roc Nation Sports. “Panini and Roc Nation Sports have a very special relationship and this partnership is yet another example of that. We are thrilled to have them behind Saquon as he begins his NFL journey.”

During a spectacular career at Penn State, Barkley rushed for more than 3,800 yards and 43 touchdowns. He also caught 102 passes for 1,195 yards and eight more touchdowns. He’s projected by many experts to be a top-10 pick and the first running back selected in the upcoming 2018 NFL Draft.
